Frequently asked questions
How can AI optimize my PPC for Google Ads?
Google's automation optimizes bids and placements inside each auction. A connected AI assistant handles the analysis around it: finding wasted spend in search terms, suggesting negatives, flagging weak keywords and ads, and proposing budget changes you approve. →
Is there a Google Ads AI agent?
Google's built-in automation acts within campaigns. For an agent that reviews your whole account and makes changes on request, you can connect Claude, ChatGPT or Codex to Google Ads with Ads Connector. →
Is it safe to give an AI access to my Google Ads account?
With Ads Connector, new items are created paused, and launching, raising budgets or bids, publishing and deleting require your explicit confirmation after a preview. Every change is logged and credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. →
Does it replace Smart Bidding or Performance Max?
No. It works alongside them. The assistant can report on those campaigns and help with settings, budgets and structure, while Google's automation keeps optimizing auctions. →
Does it work with ChatGPT?
Yes. Add https://ads-connector.com/mcp as a developer mode connector in ChatGPT. Claude, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor and Gemini CLI are supported too. →
How much does it cost?
Ads Connector costs $50 per month. Your ad spend is billed by Google as usual. →
How do I connect an AI assistant to Meta Ads Manager?
Connect Meta Ads on ads-connector.com, then add https://ads-connector.com/mcp to Claude (Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector), ChatGPT (developer mode connector), Claude Code or Codex. →
Can AI create Facebook ads for me?
Yes. The assistant can create image campaigns with your image and copy. They are created paused so you can review them before anything spends. →
Does it work with Instagram ads?
Yes. Instagram ads run through Meta Ads, so the same connection covers Facebook and Instagram, including placement breakdowns. →
Will the AI launch ads or raise budgets without asking?
No. Launching, raising budgets and deleting return a preview and need your explicit confirmation. Every change is logged. →
Does it replace Advantage+?
No. Advantage+ keeps handling delivery. The assistant helps with analysis, creative fatigue checks, structure and reporting. →
How is AI used in PPC?
Platforms use AI for bidding, targeting and delivery. Marketers use AI tools for ad copy and creative, and AI assistants connected to their accounts for audits, reporting and campaign changes. →
Can AI fully manage my PPC campaigns?
It can do much of the analysis and many routine edits, but you should set goals and approve changes. Ads Connector requires confirmation for launches, budget or bid increases, publishing and deletions. →
Which ad platforms are supported?
Google Ads, Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram) and ChatGPT Ads, plus Google Analytics 4, Search Console and Google Tag Manager for measurement. →
Which AI assistants can I use?
Claude (web, desktop and Claude Code), ChatGPT through a developer mode connector, OpenAI Codex, Cursor and Gemini CLI. →
Is an AI assistant a replacement for a PPC agency?
Not necessarily. It speeds up analysis and routine work. Some teams use it instead of outsourcing, and some agencies use it to work more efficiently. →
What is an AI marketing agent?
An AI assistant that can use marketing tools on your behalf: read reports, analyze performance and make changes in platforms like Google Ads and Meta Ads, with your approval. →
Can an AI agent run my ad campaigns on its own?
It can prepare and apply many changes, but with Ads Connector anything that launches, raises spend, publishes or deletes needs your confirmation. New items start paused. →
Which AI do I use as the agent?
Any supported client: Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT (developer mode connector), OpenAI Codex, Cursor or Gemini CLI. →
Do I need to code to set it up?
No. In Claude or ChatGPT you paste a URL into the connector settings. Claude Code and Codex use one command or a short config entry. →
Is my data safe?
The AI client uses OAuth 2.1 and never sees platform passwords. Credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM, and every change is logged. →
What is AI ad optimization?
Using AI to improve ad performance. That includes automated bidding and delivery inside ad platforms, AI-generated creative, and AI assistants that analyze accounts and apply changes. →
What is an AI ads manager?
An AI assistant connected to your ad accounts that can report, analyze and edit campaigns on request. Ads Connector turns Claude, ChatGPT or Codex into one for Google Ads, Meta Ads and ChatGPT Ads. →
Will it conflict with Smart Bidding or Advantage+?
No. Those keep optimizing auctions. The assistant works at the account level: structure, negatives, budgets, creatives and reporting. →
Can it change my campaigns without approval?
Launching, raising budgets or bids, publishing and deleting always need your confirmation. New items are created paused, and every change is logged. →
Which AI clients does it work with?
Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT (developer mode connector), OpenAI Codex, Cursor and Gemini CLI. →
What are ChatGPT ads?
They are sponsored chat cards shown inside ChatGPT answers. Each card has a short title, a short body, a square image and a link to the advertiser's site. →
What do ChatGPT ads look like?
A chat card with a title of 3 to 50 characters, a body of up to 100 characters, a square image and a target URL. →
What is the ChatGPT Ads Manager?
OpenAI Ads Manager is the web interface where advertisers create campaigns, ad groups and chat card ads and review results. The same objects are available through the Advertiser API. →
How are ChatGPT ads billed?
Billing is per click or per impression, and each campaign has a lifetime spend limit. →
Can I manage ChatGPT ads from Claude?
Yes. Connect your Advertiser API key on ads-connector.com and add https://ads-connector.com/mcp to Claude. New campaigns are created paused and launching needs your confirmation. →
How much does Ads Connector cost?
$50 per month. Your ad spend on ChatGPT Ads is billed separately by OpenAI. →
How do I connect Claude to Google Ads?
Sign in with Google at ads-connector.com, connect Google Ads, and add https://ads-connector.com/mcp as a custom connector in Claude. In Claude Code run claude mcp add --transport http ads https://ads-connector.com/mcp. →
Can I connect ChatGPT to Google Ads?
Yes. Turn on developer mode in ChatGPT and add https://ads-connector.com/mcp as a connector after connecting Google Ads on ads-connector.com. →
Do I need a Google Ads developer token?
No. Ads Connector handles the platform APIs. You only sign in and connect your accounts. →
Is it safe?
The AI client uses OAuth 2.1 and never sees your passwords. New items start paused, risky actions need your confirmation, every change is logged, and credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. →
What is a Google Ads MCP server?
A server that exposes Google Ads as tools an AI client can call through the Model Context Protocol, so Claude or ChatGPT can pull reports and manage campaigns. →
Is there a Meta Ads or Facebook Ads MCP server?
Yes. Ads Connector includes Meta Ads tools for Facebook and Instagram in the same server as Google Ads, at https://ads-connector.com/mcp. →
Is it safe to give an AI access to my ad accounts?
New items are created paused, and launching, raising budgets or bids, publishing and deleting show a preview and need your explicit confirmation. Every change is logged and credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. →
Do I need a developer token or my own Meta app?
No. You sign in and connect your accounts on ads-connector.com; the server handles the platform APIs. →
Is it free to create a Google Ads account?
Yes. Creating the account and adding a payment method costs nothing. You only pay when your ads run and someone clicks, up to the budget you set. →
Can I create a Google Ads account without a campaign?
Yes. Switch to Expert Mode during sign-up and look for the option to create the account without a campaign. The exact wording changes, but the option is usually there. →
Can I change the currency or time zone later?
No. Billing country, currency and time zone are fixed once the account is created. If they are wrong, you need to create a new account. →
Do I need a website to use Google Ads?
It is strongly recommended. Some campaign types can send people to a Google Business Profile or just show your phone number, but a website lets you track leads and gives Google more information about your business. →
Why is Google asking me to verify my identity?
Google verifies advertisers to reduce fraud. Complete it before the deadline shown in your account, usually by confirming your legal name and uploading a document, or your ads may be paused. →
Should I let an agency create the account for me?
You can, but make sure the account is owned by an email your business controls and that you have admin access. That way you keep your data if you change agencies. →
Is there a minimum spend for Google Ads?
No. There is no minimum budget or monthly fee. You choose a daily budget per campaign and only pay for clicks. →
Can I run Google Ads with $5 a day?
You can, but in most competitive local markets $5 buys only one or two clicks a day. That is rarely enough to learn what works. If you can, start with $20 to $50 a day for a few weeks. →
Why did I spend more than my daily budget?
Google can spend up to 2 times your daily budget on a busy day, but not more than 30.4 times the daily budget in a calendar month. Over a month, your total stays within the limit. →
How much does Google Ads cost per month for a small business?
A starting budget of $20 to $50 a day works out to roughly $600 to $1,500 a month. The right amount depends on your CPC, conversion rate and how many leads you need. →
How do I lower my cost per click?
Make your ads and landing page match the search closely to improve Quality Score, use phrase and exact match keywords, add negative keywords, and target only the area you actually serve. →
Do I pay if someone sees my ad but does not click?
Not for standard Search campaigns. You pay per click. Showing the ad without a click is free. →
What campaign type should a beginner start with?
Search. It shows ads to people actively looking for your service, you control the keywords, and you can see exactly which searches you paid for. →
Should I turn off the Display Network in a Search campaign?
Yes, at the start. It is included by default and often brings cheaper, lower-quality clicks. Turn off Search partners too until you know your numbers. →
Which keyword match type is best for beginners?
Phrase and exact match. They keep your ads close to what you sell. Use broad match only with Smart Bidding and enough conversion data. →
How many keywords should I start with?
Around 5 to 15 per ad group, with one ad group per service. Fewer, well-chosen keywords are easier to manage and learn from. →
How long does it take for Google Ads to work?
Ads can show within hours of approval, but expect 4 to 6 weeks of learning, adding negatives and adjusting before you judge results. →
Can an AI assistant create the campaign for me?
Yes. With Ads Connector, Claude or ChatGPT can draft a Search campaign with ad groups, keywords and ads. It is created paused and only launches after you confirm. →
Do I need conversion tracking before running Google Ads?
You can run ads without it, but you will not know which clicks led to customers, and Smart Bidding cannot work properly. Set up at least one primary conversion before or right after launch. →
What is the difference between a primary and a secondary conversion?
Primary conversions are used for bidding and appear in the main Conversions column. Secondary conversions are recorded for reference but do not influence bidding. Keep one main goal as primary. →
Should I use the Google tag or import from GA4?
Both work. The native Google Ads tag is usually faster and more precise for bidding, while GA4 import keeps one definition across tools. Choose one source per action so you do not double count. →
How long should a call last to count as a conversion?
Many service businesses use 60 seconds as a starting point. Short calls are often hang-ups or wrong numbers. Adjust the minimum based on how long a real enquiry takes for you. →
Why does Google Ads show more conversions than I actually got?
Common causes are duplicate tags, page views counted as conversions, "Every" counting on leads, or spam form submissions. Check which actions are primary and test the tag with Tag Assistant. →
What is GCLID and do I need it?
GCLID is the click ID Google adds to your landing page URL. You need it if you want to send qualified leads or sales from your CRM back to Google Ads as offline conversions. →
Is Google Ads hard for beginners?
The basics are manageable: one Search campaign, a few tight ad groups, good negative keywords and working conversion tracking. Most problems come from default settings and skipped tracking, not from complexity. →
Which campaign type should a beginner start with?
For local services and lead generation, start with a Search campaign. If you are an eligible home service business in a supported country, also consider Local Services Ads. Add Performance Max later. →
How much should I spend when I start?
It depends on click costs in your industry and area. Start with a budget you can afford to test for at least a month. The guide How much does Google Ads cost explains how to estimate it. →
How long before Google Ads starts working?
You can get clicks the same day, but expect a few weeks to gather enough data to judge keywords and ads, and longer if you use Smart Bidding, which needs conversions to learn. →
Can an AI assistant manage Google Ads for me?
It can analyze your account, answer questions and make changes you approve. With Ads Connector, new campaigns start paused and spend changes need your confirmation, so you stay in control. →
